The focus here isn\u2019t on showing the only way to do this, or the \u201cbest\u201d tooling \u2014 it\u2019s on producing&nbsp;<strong>consistent, square frame members<\/strong>&nbsp;so the frame assembles cleanly and without unnecessary correction later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Safety First (Read This Before Anything Else)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When cutting aluminum extrusion,&nbsp;<strong>you must wear safety glasses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hot aluminum chips come off the blade. They\u2019re sharp, they move fast, and they absolutely will find your eye if you give them the chance. I\u2019ve worked in shop environments my entire life, and I promise you: a piece of hot metal in your eye turns a normal day into a hospital visit and a very bad week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you ignore everything else in this article, don\u2019t ignore this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wear safety glasses. You only get two eyes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Extracting Lengths From Misumi Part Numbers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All frame dimensions come directly from the Voron Trident BOM. As explained earlier in this series, Misumi part numbers encode the extrusion profile and the intended length.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those length values define&nbsp;<strong>design intent<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 but they are not sacred numbers that override tooling tolerances or real-world fabrication constraints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When cutting your own extrusion, the BOM tells you which frame members must match each other in length. That distinction matters far more than hitting an exact nominal dimension on every cut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Basic Cutting Setup (One Practical Approach)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not the only way to cut aluminum extrusion, but it\u2019s a simple, accessible setup that works well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The setup used here consists of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A compound mitre saw<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An aluminum-specific blade<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The saw clamped securely to the work table so it cannot move<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Aluminum extrusion cuts cleanly with the correct blade, but movement is the enemy. If the saw shifts during cutting, repeatability disappears immediately. This step isn\u2019t visually exciting, but it determines whether your cuts will actually be square. If the blade isn\u2019t square, nothing downstream will be either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Setting a Repeatable Length Stop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve consistent cuts, physical stops matter more than tape measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this setup:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Simple 2\u00d72 blocks were clamped to the table<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The blocks act as a hard length stop<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The desired length was measured carefully and verified multiple times before cutting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the stop is set, every matching extrusion can be cut to the same length without re-measuring each piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Measure carefully. Measure again.
